ABOUT US

Award Winning Support for
families in Greater Manchester

At Visit from the Stork we believe every parent should have access to the tools and resources they need to give their family a better quality of life.

What we do

We provide consistent, empowering and engaging support to families in need across the cities of Salford and Manchester. We are the support network for parents and their children who have no one else to turn to; a tribe of parents and professionals alike who encourage, empower and connect each other.

Our door is always open for any parent that needs help – whether they just want a helping hand or need longer term support. A journey starts with a single step and we’ll be there every step of the way.

We believe long-term, consistent support instead of short interventions breaks down barriers and encourages families to ask for help when they need it, instead of getting to breaking point.

Transforming the Lives of parents and children across Greater Manchester

We raise awareness of antenatal and postpartum issues through blogs, campaigns and educational posts on our social media channels.

We provide consistent, empowering and engaging support to families in need across the cities of Salford and Manchester.

We are the support network for parents and their children who have no one else to turn to; a tribe of parents and professionals alike who encourage, empower and connect each other.

As an independent charity, we rely on our supporters to raise and donate funds and items, and to raise awareness of our work.

Baby and Household essentials

We give vital baby and household essentials to the most vulnerable families through Stork Support, making sure that parents don’t have to choose between clothing and feeding their children and paying the bills. Our friendly 1:1 professional support enables families to feel informed about choices they are making and more knowledgeable about important issues such as finances and housing.

Connecting families together

Through our Stork Peer Support groups and Stay & Play sessions, we ensure parents can make friends with others who have both the same and different experiences of parenthood, sharing languages, cultures and more.
Our sessions give children and their families an opportunity to bond and have fun together, away from the stresses of home.

Breast feeding support

We empower women to be open about their breastfeeding experiences and inspire others to breastfeed for longer through BOOBS and BOOBS in Bury. Our BOOBS approved venues, breastfeeding cafes, specialist antenatal classes and 1:1 peer support helps mums to achieve their breastfeeding goals - whether for one week, 6 months or 2 years and beyond.

Stork Store community shop

Our Stork Store Community shop and hub in the heart of Salford (and online) provides affordable toys, games, clothes and equipment 0-teenager, as well as free school uniform and books and discounted baby essentials. We run weekly sessions from the hub and offer drop-in appointments to help with benefit forms and Healthy start applications.
