We are looking for Stay and Play volunteers to join us at our Stork Store Community Shop & hub at the Emmanuel Centre, Langworthy.
Visit from the Stork is based at Emmanuel Church & Centre on Langworthy Road, Salford on Wednesdays and Thursdays each week, where we run various activities including a stay and play and our preloved toy shop Stork Store. We are looking for a Stay and Play volunteer to help with setting up activities and packing away, as well as interacting with clients.
We expect our Stay and Play volunteers to:
- Have good communication skills
- Be able to lift items such as mats and toy boxes (trolley will be
provided) - Be enthusiastic about supporting parents
- Ideally have experience of being a parent OR working with
children/families - Be reliable and able to commit to regular sessions
A beneficial skill would be knowledge of Early Years children’s development and learning – and want to help us plan and set out relevant activities.
This role needs a DBS check as it involves working with children and vulnerable parents – a DBS is provided for free if you don’t have one yet.
- Be available Wednesdays ideally 9:30 am – 12.15 (sessions start at 10:30am)
- Engage with families who attend our stay and play session
- Help set up the room and pack away and tidy / clean effectively
- Join in activities such as song time/ story time
- Help give out refreshments
- Help collect feedback from parents attending (with guidance).
- Work in a team with other staff and volunteers to support parents/families as needed.
